How do you pay?

Limousines and regular buses accept nationwide transport cards such as T-money and credit cards with a transit function; you can buy and top up transport cards at convenience stores. On express and limousine buses, tap your card when you board and again when you get off, and the system charges the distance fare. Timetables and full fare tables are on the Jeju Bus Information System.

How much is the bus in Jeju? Regular and express buses

Jeju's regular buses charge one flat fare island-wide, ₩1,150 by card or ₩1,200 in cash for adults; express buses are distance-based at ₩2,000–3,000 by card. Routes are grouped by their first digit, so the number tells you where a bus goes.

First digit Type Examples
1 Express bus 101 (airport – east coast – Namwon), 111 (airport – Seongsan Port)
2 General trunk bus 201 (Jeju Bus Terminal – Seongsan Ilchulbong – Seogwipo), 240 (via 1100 Road to Jungmun)
3, 4 Jeju City trunk / branch 315, 325 and other city routes via Jeju Airport

How do transfer discounts work?

If you use a transport card, transferring to a different route within 40 minutes of tapping off earns a discount, up to 2 times. If the next fare is the same or lower, the transfer is free; if it's higher, you only pay the difference. The same route number in the opposite direction doesn't count as a transfer.

Other options: ferries, chartered cars and rental cars

Besides buses and taxis, you can take a ferry to the outlying islands, charter a car for a day trip, or rent a car.

Ferry to Udo

Udo lies east of Seongsan Ilchulbong, about 15 minutes by ferry from Seongsan Port. It's known for white coral-sand beaches and peanut ice cream and makes a good half-day or full-day trip. Sailings and fares change by season, so check the notices at the pier; boats may be cancelled in bad weather.

Chartered car with driver

A chartered car with driver suits families and small groups: you set the route and don't have to follow bus timetables. Vehicles range from sedans to 9-seaters and larger, priced by hours and vehicle type, so compare quotes and check whether fuel and parking are included.

Renting a car

A rental car gives the most freedom and reaches sights buses barely serve. Foreign visitors need a valid International Driving Permit, their home licence and passport, and should book early in peak season. If you'd rather not drive, buses plus taxis cover most itineraries.

How do you handle big luggage in Jeju without a car?

Luggage is the hardest part of a car-free Jeju trip. Regular buses have little space and big suitcases are hard to fit at busy times. Many visitors split their stay between two areas (say, Jeju City and then Jungmun or Seogwipo), and dragging bags across bus transfers on moving day can cost half a day.

There are three common fixes:

  1. Take airport limousine 600 or 800 to near your hotel; they have luggage space.
  2. Take a taxi on moving day (large taxis have more room), though long trips are expensive.
  3. Use a luggage delivery service to send your bags straight to your next hotel or the airport.

LuggAgent can pick up your bags at Jeju Airport, Jeju Port or your hotel and deliver them the same day or the next day to your next hotel or the airport, so you can ride the bus hands-free; see Jeju luggage delivery for coverage.
